Suza Lambert Bowser – Sheep Ranch Productions – 707.822.8803

Bio/Resume:

Suza Lambert Bowser—writer, director, producer, and performer—has pursued the dream of creating dramatic worlds since she was a young girl. Her theatrical tradition followed her through high school into the University of Delaware, where she graduated with a degree in English Literature, specializing in classical works and performing in pieces like the masque, Comus, by John Milton. Although she earned an Education degree, Bowser did not teach after graduation, performing, instead, throughout the country as a songwriter and a jazz singer.

After a brief stint working on her family’s tugboat, Bowser attended graduate school at Tufts University, Boston, earning a Master’s degree in Theatre Arts. As “Becky” in Sam Shepard’s A Tooth of Crime and the “Mummy” in Strindberg’s Ghost Sonata, Bowser benefited from the academic and practical tutelage of her professors. This strong background in theatre history initiated a lifelong interest in the plays of Shakespeare, through which Bowser later designed educational, theatrical opportunities for children, such as: Shakespeare for Kids and Campe Renaissance.

Bowser worked in television commercials and community theatre on the West Coast, where she performed leading roles like: “Nancy” in Oliver!,  by Lionel Bart and “Lucy Brown” in Three Penny Opera by Bertold Brecht (for which she was also music director).

Before launching into her first film, A River of Skulls (2009), Bowser taught at Humboldt State University, where she earned a second Master’s degree in Literature. She recently published a scholarly article in The Hardy Review (Yale University) as well as several award winning short fiction pieces. Most recently, Bowser performed a leading role as “Feminista” in The Making Of, (feature-length film, Great Minds Pro), as well as theatrical roles: “Gertrude” in Hamlet, the “Nurse” in Romeo and Juliet, and “Edith” in Jake’s Women.
